In this article we are going to take a look at the latest Vivaldi update. This is a Chrome-based browser that allows us to use the same extensions as the Google browser. From what is counted a better memory usage of our team. It doesn't consume as much RAM when we open multiple tabs.
A few months ago a colleague already spoke about version 1.8 of Vivaldi in this article. But as everything is updated, this fantastic browser already presents us with the Stable 1.10 version. The new version has a customizable home page and developer tools coupled among other improvements.
The home page is a gateway to the web from our computers. Vivaldi 1.10 It is not limited to offering the user a simple home page with limited functionality and boring design.
In the center of the Vivaldi 1.10 browser home page you will find the shortcuts that show galleries and thumbnails of our bookmarks. You can add multiple shortcuts to your home page and use them to organize and collect links to your favorite web pages. Thumbnails are generated by defaultBut with the latest update, you can replace them with custom images or even use animated GIFs to create a different look.
In this new version, the number of thumbnail columns has been increased by speed dial to 12. You can also disable the maximum number, in which case the thumbnails will fill all the space available in the speed dial.
The appearance of the shortcut folders has also been updated. Previously, the icon of a folder would be similar to that of a website, but now it not only looks like a folder, it also shows its contents. If you don't like the default, you can replace it with a custom image.
The new version of the browser Vivaldi allows you to dock the development tools at the bottom or on either side of the screen to inspect items (which most popular browsers already support), test and debug code, and much more.
This new version, in addition to focusing on the home page, provides us with other new features and improvements that include a classification of downloads in the side panel by name, size, date of addition and date of completion, as well as manually. The ability to change the visibility of the image from the "View" menu or via a configurable keyboard shortcut.
Quick command enhancements have also been added for users. This is focused on all users who like to control everything in our browser from the keyboard. Download / Install Vivaldi 1.10 browser on Ubuntu
The official .DEB package is available for download at the following link.
Once downloaded, we select through a click to install the DEB package through Ubuntu Software, Gdebi, or install it through the command from the terminal (Ctrl + Alt + T):
sudo dpkg -i ~/Descargas/vivaldi-stable*.deb
If you have an older version installed and enabled, the official Linux repository (installing the DEB package will add the repo automatically. I think it is not enabled by default), you can update it through the Software and updates option.
Uninstall Vivaldi 1.10 browser from Ubuntu
If you do not adapt to this browser, you can remove it from your operating system by typing in the terminal:
sudo apt remove vivaldi-stable && sudo apt purge
The Vivaldi browser repository can be removed from the Software and updates option of your Ubuntu system.
