We are a few days away from the arrival of Gnome 3.30

Just days before the arrival of the new version of Gnome 3.30, which basically we are only a week away. The news about the new functions that will be part of this new version of the desktop environment have been released for the last few weeks.

And even though it's basically a few days left, the people in charge of developing Gnome continue to work and refine the features that will arrive in this new installment.

Of the characteristics that have been making known during these last weeks we know the following.

New Features in GNOME 3.30

Of the new functions and features that have been confirmed so far We first found the new and renewed "lock screen" or "lock screen" and also improved the login screen of the environment.

GNOME 3.30 will bring some lock and login screens very interesting. The revamped login and lock screens use animated transitions to integrate the different parts.

LUser selection does not show more than eight users. If there is more than this, a username is allowed to be entered, in addition to choosing one from the network. You will also be able to see the name of the distribution in the upper left corner.

As for the system lock screen, it will be reduced by notifications due to the presentation of a set of application icons with a notification count for each one.

Automatic Updates

GNOME 3.30 will support automatic updates so you have one less thing to worry about. GNOME will automatically update applications when available, but to begin with, applies to Flatpak applications only.

The reason behind this decision as explained by GNOME is to avoid self-updating packages that are not secure all the time.

Although things like firmware updates, ostree content, and package updates are automatically downloaded by default, which are manually deployed as before.

Another update that will be applied is to show the updates that are available, but have not yet been downloaded.

Although at the moment the Gnome developers are trying to see if the applications can be downloaded automatically ahead of time if possible.

This should show up as new versions which may take some time to download in the update panel before the firmware update either takes place or the online update is scheduled.

We will have to wait and see how this feature complements itself along with the environment.

New version of Nautilus 3.30

GNOME 3.30 will include the new version of the Nautilus 3.30 file manager, what in itself is getting some very cool improvements as well.

It has a new toolbar where users can now access background actions in list view and carry out actions such as creating templates or opening a terminal.

All the application menu actions are added for easy accessibility in multi-monitor setups.

Another interesting visual optimization is using GTK +, which allows you to change the dynamic space size of items in the file manager.

Other significant new features in Nautilus 3.30 include faster file search and only current folder search ability.

Moment these are the characteristics that have been released, even though so many more are expected and above all better performance and lower memory consumption in the execution of the environment on the system.

Well, for several months now, the personnel in charge of Gnome development have had to deal with different memory consumption problems, without forgetting the bug that caused excessive consumption of the system environment.

Without more, you just have to wait a few more days for the release of what will be this new installment of Gnome 3.30.
