slip

After a hard time of work, at last The first stable version of the Zettlr project arrives, within which a text editor with Markdown markup is being developed.

The project was built using the Electron platform, which allows you to create separate applications based on the Chromium engine and the Node.js platform.

The code is distributed under the GPLv3 license. Builds are made for Linux, macOS, and Windows.

About Zettlr

slip is optimized to solve problems associated with the processing of a large number of documents.

The editor provides flexible options to search a collection of documents and allows you to have several texts open at the same time.

Using Markdown markup allows the user to focus on the content and writing process of the text, relegating to the second plan the tasks of format and style, which can be done last with the help of the simplest markup.

Thus, the heat map algorithm can also be used to visually display search results with the color that highlights the most relevant elements.

As well is supported for maintaining scientific notes on the Zettelkasten method in which extensions such as file identifiers, tags, and internal links are supported.

Interestingly, the app departs a bit from the typical GUI / layout pattern we've seen in so many Markdown editors and offers an older layout, which isn't a bad thing.

At the top of the main window there is a normal run menu bar, followed by a handy toolbar that includes all the most important controls and commands (both global and for the Markdown editor).

While we are studying the subject, it is worth noting that it also has a very useful night mode and that it is also available in German, French and English.

Taking everything into account, Zettlr is in fact a very compelling Markdown editor that is primarily aimed at users who write a lot. And in addition to the common features, they should also organize your documents.
