A new version of snapd comes to Ubuntu 16.04 LTS

Ubuntu 16.04

As reported a few hours ago by the Canonical company, a new version of snapd in the Ubuntu 16.04 LTS repository. This edition, 2.0.3, is the last and more stable of all for the version of the Xenial Xerus operating system, where will interact with the Ubuntu Core Snappy infrastructure (the Ubuntu Linux variant designed for embedded devices and the Internet of Things or IoT).

The new options that the snapd daemon includes can be found in its own change log, and of course it incorporates some very interesting ones. For example, it includes the implementation of Unity snap autopkg as a test, the flag "assumes: common-data-dir" and the YAML function.

This new version of snapd is almost a restart for this application because, after numerous unsuccessful retries in the past to apply snaps via console, has been improved in its installation, allowing not only to install, but to delete or update snaps. As well an interface has been included as a test of the home itself and now data that lacks versioning is supported.

The following improvements refer to the BlueZ interface, removing the little used function SetProperty and the D-Bus code. Likewise, short and long descriptions have been added to the application's man pages. The handling of the snaps forms has been improved and the integration tests have been reestablished.

Lastly, the command to delete snaps is capable of deleting all the revisions that exist on the same snap. The client is now able to correctly list each type of snaps and the installation profiles function uses a new version that allows it to use multiple integration tests.

Snapd 2.0.3 is ready for your Ubuntu 16.04, what are you waiting for to try it?
