Ubuntu 18.04 LTS Bionic Beaver Final Beta Now Available

ubuntu-18.04

Already for a few weeks the next release of the new Ubuntu has stopped talking and it is not for more because the guys from Canonical have officially announced the availability of the final beta of Ubuntu 18.04 LTS Bionic Beaver.

This final version has been made available to anyone who wants to download it to be able to install it on their computers and help refine the details that will be included in the stable version that will be in the coming weeks.

Muchos Ubuntu users are eager to know what the new release will be, with which many improvements and compatibility fixes are expected that left a bad taste in the mouth with the 17.xx versions.

En this new version Ubuntu LTS Bionic Beaver have decided to reverse a decision and have returned to Xorg which will be together with Gnome Shell 3.28 as a desktop environment.

And of course, an improvement in what could be called poor decision management is to be expected.

Where does this comment come from, personally and they may or may not excuse my daring, but it doesn't take a systems expert to realize that since the decision to launch Wayland thinking that he is 100% to replace Xorg from there we are wrong.

And it is not that he is pessimistic or has something against, but you can not make a substitution of this type or put him as an alternate when he is not up to the task, they know the deficiencies of Wayland and they still launched it.

As for what corresponds to the support part, being an LTS version it will have 5 years of support unlike the normal versions.

The corresponding part of the desktop environment is at least a decision that will be around for a few more versions.

Ending Unity could have been the best decision, I think yes and no, because at least within all the upheavals that have caused the last 3-4 years it has been done in a hasty manner.

Honestly, the guys from Ubuntu need to settle down, because they want to cover the entire market, but in the end they come to nothing, they stay like the dog with two cakes.

A very practical example is Ubuntu Touch, an idea that intended to revolutionize the convergence of mobile devices and computers and at the end of it all they only left in an uproar those who saw a future in this kind of projects.

And finally, where does all this come from? As he said, it is a personal comment, as in everything there will be those who may agree, but since it also differs, everything is valid.

At the end of the day we are only users of the system and there will always be complaints.

Ubuntu 18.04 beta 2

Finally, far from being a new version with new features and elements that are constantly changing, Ubuntu 18.04 LTS is a mere correction of what version 17.04 should have been.

As for the heart of the system, We will have Kernel 4.15 which already has the Meltdown and Specter patches.

As well it has been speculated that quite possibly some applications in Snap format will be added to this new version of Ubuntu like the system monitor, the calculator, characters and logs.

The way to add repositories will now be easier. The way in which this was done was in three commands, add the repository, update the list so that the system knew that there was a new one and finally its application was installed.

Now I know remove a step in Ubuntu 18.04 and only the repository will be added and the application will be installed.

And well, finally to conclude in the Ubuntu 18.04 LTS installer we will find a "minimal installation" option, in this it will only be the usual installation, where you will only find a web browser and a few applications.

But the interesting thing about this is that bloatware is put aside.

Without further ado, I will just wait for the new version of Ubuntu to be ready, even though I don't use it directly, I expect some improvements in this version.

Hello, a query if one installs this beta version or any of the other flavors, when the final version comes out, do you have to change the repositories or are they the same?

It depends on the repositories, do you still want to go from a flavor to the original lts? Can that?

The big news will come with the release of Ubuntu 92.04 LTS… (the Ambiance and Radiance themes will have a more intense shade of orange, a new Wallpaper made by Shuttlerworth's great-great-grandson and Nautilus will have the top buttons removed to make it even more minimalist).
