Ubuntu's "cinnamon" flavor is one of the youngest in the family. It was a "remix" for a long time, and became official flavor about six months ago, on 23.04. Today, October 12, they gave us Ubuntu Cinnamon 23.10 Mantic Minotaur, and the main novelty is that it uses the same desktop as the latest version of Linux Mint, who is responsible for the development of Cinnamon. It does so about three months late, or rather difference, but with already four maintenance updates.
The kernel used by Ubuntu Cinnamon 23.10 is Linux 6.5, and we can also count as new versions of packages such as LibreOffice or Firefox. If you are missing something from another flavor, you should know that one of them can be installed on any other, since they share official repositories. - Cinnamon Screensaver 5.8.1, which fixed a UI issue with the screensaver backup screen and no longer uses libaccountsservice (may crash startup).
- Nemo has seen memory leaks fixed and thumbnail generation now uses multiple threads.
