Alien: Isolation for Linux is delayed on release day

Alien Isolation for Linux

Feral Interactive has released bad news regarding Alien: Isolation on Linux. The day when we are supposed to be able to enjoy it on Linux in general and Ubuntu in particular has been postponed, and it is not known when it will officially see the light of day.

Alien: Isolation was initially developed by Creative Assembly, responsible for the famous Total War saga and for which they created a graphics engine from scratch. Feral Interactive is in charge of managing the portability process of the game, which, we insist, should have been released today.

The Feral interactive developers have announced that even though the delay eventually occurred, they waited until the last moment to try and keep the Alien: Isolation dates intact. This game is distributed digitally, and they were probably working on correcting the problem until there was no hope left. Apparently the error could not be repaired which has been creating headaches for the guys at Feral Interactive, and that is what has caused the change in dates.

Could be a problem with AMD

Feral Interactive posted the system requirements yesterday and they weren't that high. The problem is that the game does not support Intel and AMD GPUs. This is interesting, since AMD had an entry in the last driver Catalyst on Alien: Isolation.

Feral Interactive statements to the players:

We are deeply sorry to bring bad news, but Alien: Isolation - The Collection for Mac and Linux has been delayed due to an issue affecting both platforms, and will not be released today. We are committed to releasing games only once they meet our high performance standards. We need a little more time to ensure that Alien: Isolation does it.

And since the "problem" affects the two platforms the game is ported to, perhaps has to do with something external to AMD, after all. That means that today Ubuntu gamers are not going to tremble with fear playing alone at home, at night and in the dark, and that we will have to wait a little longer.
