Google Chrome is a closed source web browser developed by Google, although derived from an open source project called "Chromium".
It was recently announced the release of the new version of Chrome 110, version that arrives with a very long change log, in addition to the security bugs discovered, but it also comes with several important improvements.
It is worth mentioning that the new version of Chrome addresses 15 different security issues. However, in the new version post it only mentions 10 issues. Among the various flaws mentioned are a type confusion vulnerability in the V8 JavaScript engine and an out-of-bounds read in WebRTC.

This new version of Google Chrome 110 is a major release because it is the first to remove support for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1.
For the part of the changes and improvements we can find that Google improved the accessibility of the browser's translation function. Google Chrome includes Google Translate, which can be used to translate web pages displayed in another language. The translation bubble that Chrome displays allows users to enable automatic translations for selected languages. These options are now exposed in the browser settings. Chrome users can open chrome://settings/languages or navigate to Menu > Settings > Languages to set the new options.
Another change that stands out from the new version, is in built-in password manager, which improves support for quickly changing a compromised password, for other added sites it will take the user directly to a page with the option to change the password. Chrome's Check Password tool includes more URLs to change passwords directly. Chrome can check for compromised passwords and display password change buttons next to passwords for accounts it's determined to be unsafe.
In addition, the option to verify the user before filling in the login details has been added, in a similar way to what happens with mobile phones. Biometrics can also be used on your computer, and if you don't have one, another authentication method will be used.
Another novelty that stands out is the support for Nvidia RTX Super Resolution feature, that allows scaling the video to a higher resolution (upscaling). For example, if you're playing a Full HD video on the web, but have a 4K resolution monitor in front of you, the browser will automatically increase the resolution. But as the name suggests, the feature is only available on Nvidia RTX graphics cards, specifically the newer RTX 3000 and RTX 4000 series cards.

- Enhanced Safe Browsing When you use the optional security feature, Google will analyze which extensions of cookie information you request to better detect malware.
- CSS initial letters or also known as drop caps, Chrome 110 makes it possible to implement them using CSS code.
- Custom Picture-in-Picture Controls: A new CSS class makes it easy for developers to style control elements on picture-in-picture videos and other media.
- New audio routing options: Developers can use a new feature in the Web Audio API to allow users to choose their preferred audio output device.

How to update or install Google Chrome in Ubuntu and derivatives?
For those who are interested in being able to update to the new version of the browser on their systems, they can do so by following the instructions that we share below. The first thing you should do is check if the update is already available, for this you have to go to chrome: // settings / help and the notification that there is an update will appear.
In case it is not so you must close your browser and you are going to open a terminal and type:
sudo apt update sudo apt upgrade
You open your browser again and it must have already been updated or the update notification will appear.
