The new version of Stellarium 0.19.0 arrives with many changes

Stellarium

A few days ago the developers who are in charge of this fabulous software, dThey went to know the new version of Stellarium v0.19.0, version that comes with many changes to improve the user experience.

For those who are still unaware of Stellarium I can tell you that this is free software written in C and C ++ and that allows us to simulate a planetarium on our computer, Stellarium is available for Linux, Mac OS X, and Windows.

Within the characteristics of Stellarium, This allows us to calculate the position of the Sun, the Moon, planets, constellations and stars.

In addition, It has a catalog of more than 600.000 stars that we can expand by incorporating other catalogs available from its official website.. It also allows us to simulate different astronomical phenomena, such as meteor showers and lunar and solar eclipses.

It has the option of taking the latitude and longitude of any place on the planet, allowing us to appreciate how the stars are observed in different parts of the world.

What's new in Stellarium 0.19.0?

With the release of this new version of the Stellarium 0.19.0 planetarium it can be noted that AstroCalc has been added which is a powerful astrology app that covers everything from natal astrology, with support for Huber charts and different techniques.

Also included is a World Atlas with time zone correction (also historical dates), covering approx. 220000 places.

With that GUI options were also added to change the font size of constellations, star names and a new additional name was added to kappa Scorpii.

Regarding the catalog app stars and constellations, this received the addition of the Mayan constellations, as well as the skies of the ancient Chinese and Babylonian culture.

On the other hand, a tool was added to the application to detect the Intel C / C ++ compiler and a new 'Constellations Tour' script to organize the tour around the constellations of the charged sky culture.

Finally, of the many changes that were received in this new version that we can highlight is the addition of support to classify the sky by cultures.

Of the other changes that are worth knowing, there are the following:

  • Added demo script for martian analemma
  • Added support sols for the setDate () method [Scripting Engine]
  • Added some scripting methods in the HighlightMgr class to manage highlights.
  • Added translation support for strings within scripts
