Dell XPS 13 with Ubuntu arrives in Spain

Dell XPS 13 Developer Laptop

Weeks ago we were talking about the return of Ubuntu to Dell XPS 13 and other Dell computers, leaving Windows a bit aside. Well, now this ultralight has arrived in Spain, so the new Dell XPS 13 with Ubuntu is available in the Dell store. Spain will not be the only country that will have this laptop either, but rather all Europe will benefit from this novelty and the performance Ubuntu gives Dell hardware.

Dell XPS 13 has Ubuntu LTS, that is, until the next LTS, the team uses Ubuntu 14.04.4, a slightly outdated but stable and secure version, quite optimized for any computer, including the three configurations that Dell offers when buying this laptop:

Dell XPS 13 will have three hardware versions and a single software version

  • The first of them is composed of Intel Core i5, 8 GB of ram and 256 GB of SSD. The screen resolution is FullHD.
  • The second configuration maintains the same size of ram memory and internal storage, but the processor becomes an Intel Core i7 and the resolution of the screen of QHD +.
  • The latest configuration has an Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB of RAM and 512GB of SSD. Also this time screen resolution is QHD with a touch screen.

Of course they are very powerful configurations that together with Ubuntu make the team a great rival for Macbook Air, Surface Book or any of its derivativesMoreover, I would dare to say that it would be the best team of the three mentioned, although I recognize that any laptop with Ubuntu is a great alternative due to the flexibility and optimization that Ubuntu offers, without forgetting the updates that the LTS versions offer, updates for two years, something that proprietary operating systems do not usually offer.

"The team uses Ubuntu 14.04.4, a slightly outdated version" What you mean by this comment, I use this version of Ubuntu and I don't understand what they mean by this.

A that it is a version released almost two years ago, despite the continuous updates it suffers

Well, I understand that obsolete is something that no longer works or works halfway and in the case of this version of Ubuntu it runs perfect for me
