Earthworm Jim 1 and 2 officially arrive on Ubuntu

Earthworm Jim

More and more streaming platforms seek to offer classic video games in Gnu / Linux environments. The most famous of them is Steam, a platform that has acquired several hundred titles and that allows you to play and enjoy them both on Windows and Ubuntu.

However, there are other platforms that have famous titles or at least popular with older "gamers". A good example of this is the Gog.com website, a website that has recently acquired the rights to Earthworrm Jim and offers the possibility of playing the first two titles in our Ubuntu.

For those who do not know this saga of games, Earthworm Jim is the title of a saga that deals with the adventures of a space worm man who defends the Universe from attacks the less curious. The first two titles came out for Sega, although in a short time it became popular and jumped to other platforms such as SuperNES, Nintendo 64, PlayStation, etc ...

Personally, I spent many afternoons playing this saga and I was not the only one, that is why the news has raised such a stir among Gnu / Linux users.

The Gog platform distributes this video game for the price of 9 dollars, a somewhat laughable figure if we take into account that other current games cost more and provide fewer hours of entertainment.

When we download the games, we will get a package in sh format that will install the video game and an emulator that allows the game to work within the Ubuntu environment. This really is not ideal, at least from a performance point of view, but it will allow us to play classic games within our Ubuntu.

The GOG platform not only offers us Earthworm Jim 1 and 2 but also we find other games like Baldur's Gate, Dugeon Keeper or Might and Magic, to mention a few famous titles. Indeed we will not have the latest FIFA but we will have hours of fun to play from our Ubuntu Do not you think?
