Eternal Lands is a free online multiplayer game (MMORPG), Free 3D fantasy multiplatform. The setting is a medieval fantasy world, in which there are historical elements, such as medieval architecture and weapons, along with fictional elements, such as other humanoid races and magic.
It is made up of two main continents: Seridia and Irilion in the world of Draia. Seridia is the first continent, and the place where new players spawn.
It consists of 14 main maps, 7 warehouses, 2 main PK maps, and the only place to find the Wraith. Irillion is aimed at experienced players.
You can explore, craft items, summon animals, go on quests, participate in monster instances, participate in PvP fights, find secrets, and much more.
If you are a PKer, you can fight other PKers on special maps. If you are not a PKer, then you can stay on the non-PK maps, where you don't have to worry about being attacked by other players.
Main features
Unlike 2D isometric games, you can rotate the camera to any angle you want, on the Z axes (perpendicular to the ground) and see new details of previously hidden objects.
Day / night / morning / afternoon. The day / night cycle has 6 hours. The morning begins at 0:00, and at 1:00 it is broad daylight. The night starts at 3:00, and at 4:00 it is all night.
The light changes very smoothly, an environment table based on one minute. Shadows respect the position of the sun, so they move as the sun travels in the sky.
In the morning, the shadows become more and more visible, while at night they fade, having a very smooth transition.
Shadows can be activated / deactivated by the player, in case your machine can't handle them properly, at a decent frame rate.
All nearby objects, and the sky, are reflected in the water. Also, the water moves a bit, with very small waves, so all reflected / sky objects are animated.
- Also, the color of the water changes depending on the time of day. It is very nice to observe the lakes in the morning / afternoon.
- Custom colors. Each player can customize the colors and hair of their avatar.
- There are many outdoor places to explore, and caves, dungeons, building interiors, etc.
- Trading capacity. Players can trade their items with others.
- Magic system. Implemented, but still in development.
How to install Eternal Lands in Ubuntu and derivatives?
Si you are interested in being able to install this game on your system, You can do it by following the instructions we share below.
In general for any Linux distribution, the game developers provide us with an installer which can be run on any current distribution.
For this, it is enough that we go to the following link, where we can find the link to download the script that will be in charge of installing the game.
From the terminal we can do it using the wget command as follows:
wget http://www.eternal-lands.com/el_linux_install_195.sh
And after the download has been done we are going to run the script with:
sudo sh el_linux_installer_195.sh
Installation from Snap
Now another method that we can use in our system, we only have to have the support for this technology that in the case of the latest versions of Ubuntu and derivatives is already included.
To install, We only have to open a terminal in our system with Ctrl + Alt + T and in it we are going to execute the following command:
sudo snap install eternallands
If you prefer to test what the new features will be, you can make use of the RC version or the beta version, that we can install them in the following way:
sudo snap install eternallands --candidate
Or the beta version:
sudo snap install eternallands --beta
Finally, to check if there are updates available, we can check and install them with the following command:
sudo snap refresh eternallands
