Firefox is an open source web browser developed for different platforms, it is coordinated by Mozilla and the Mozilla Foundation.

Mozilla recently released the release of the new corrective version of Firefox 116.0.3, which was released mainly for the reason of getting to fix "some crashes" when sending requests to Google.

The problem reported with Google seems to only affect versions after Firefox 115, since Firefox 116 (the current stable version of Firefox 116) is the version where it was detected that the browser simply hangs instead of loading Google search. It is worth mentioning that Firefox builds 117 (test version) are also reported to have the same problem.

What's new in Firefox 116.0.3?

In the release of this corrective version of Firefox 116.0.3, as we already mentioned at the beginning, the main reason is because fixed a bug in the implementation of the HTTP/3 protocol that, under certain circumstances, caused the browser to freeze for 30-60 seconds after sending search requests to Google.

Potentially the problem it can manifest itself in other services that use HTTP/3. The error is due to a failure to retry the request from a different IP address after a failed attempt to establish an IPv6/IPv4 connection. The issue arose after the "network.http.http3.retry_ different_ip_family" setting was enabled in Firefox 116, which was disabled as a workaround in the 116.0.3 update.

Another of the problems that was solved is a error that occurred with screen sharing in protocol-based environments Wayland, this error occurred when trying to take a screenshot.

In addition to this, it is also mentioned thatFixed problems with file access in OPFS (Origin-Private FileSystem, isolated virtual file system per site) that were being cached when using older versions of Firefox. For example, the problem manifests itself in the online version of Adobe Photoshop, as the error prevented accessing old files or creating a new file. When doing that the browser was closed.

And also fixed a bug that caused the full screen notification to always appear and not disappear even after disabling it.
