Firefox Private Network now available in the US for $ 4.99 / month

Firefox Private Network

A little over a year ago, Firefox became a trademark. It is no longer just a browser, which in theory has been renamed Firefox Browser, but it is a brand of services among which we have, in addition to the browser, Lockwise (password manager), Monitor (to know if our credentials have been violated) and Send (to send files as with WeTransfer). Now, after a beta period that started last year, Mozilla joins a service to his family: Firefox Private Network.

It is likely that by the name many of you already know what this service offers: a VPN With the guarantee of the Mozilla company. Regarding its name, Firefox Private Network will become Mozilla VPN in the next few weeks, but it will take a while for it to be available worldwide. Initially, and as usual, it will only be available to users residing in the United States, but Mozilla says it expects that this year it will be available in more countries (they have not mentioned which ones).

Firefox Private Network will be renamed Mozilla VPN and will be priced at $ 4.99 / month

As for its price, Mozilla says it will be available for $ 4.99 / month for a limited time, which can mean two things: those who hire you now will keep the price for the duration of the subscription and that only future customers will pay more or that the price will go up in the future for everyone. Without more information about it, we can only say that this is the current price in the United States.

If it is a good price or not, we can think that it is if we take into account that other services such as the one offered by Express VPN ask us for $ 7 / month and that others like SurfShark are above € 10 / month, not to mention that Mozilla VPN is a service offered to us by a company that has shown that takes our privacy into account.

In the coming weeks, the fox company will provide more information, including when it will reach new territories and at what price.

Let's see the price is not bad, although we will have to see how it looks. And, above all, it will be necessary to see what the final version offers: For example, a strict no-logs policy would be desirable and, upon request, audited (and the association with cloudflare does not look good in this sense); encryption protocols, that the connection is fast, that I have many physical servers in many countries, that it works for Netflix, for the BBC ...
