Flowblade is a multitrack non-linear video editor that offers a configurable workflow
After two and a half years of development, the launch of the new version of «Flowblade 2.10», version in which a large number of changes, incremental improvements and bug fixes accumulated since the previous release have been added.
For those who don't know about Flowblade, you should know that this is a multitrack non-linear video editing system, that allows you to compose movies and videos from a set of videos, sound files and individual images.
The editor provides tools to trim clips to the nearest frame, process them with filters, and overlay images for embedding in video. You can freely define the order in which the tools are applied and adjust the behavior of the timeline.
Main new features of Flowblade 2.10
In this new version that comes from Flowblade 2.10 by default, a new dark interface design theme is proposed, in addition to the compositing mode "Full Track" is enabled, replacing the previously offered “Top Down Free Move” compositing mode, which is left as an option. The new mode is closer to the compositing methods used in other video editors and is more understandable for new users.
Another of the changes that stands out in this new version is the replacement of the pattern generators (Pattern Producer), with a system of «Generators». Generators are editable media elements that create media content when placed on a timeline. In version 2.10 6 generators have been prepared to work with animated text, background and transition effects.
In addition to that, we can also find that added Fluxity plugin developer API to facilitate the creation of content generators, such as animated texts, which can be created much more easily with Python and rendered media.
It is also worth noting that the new keyframe interpolation modes: In addition to the previously available linear interpolation, smoothed and discrete interpolation modes have been added.
Of the other changes that stand out from this new version:
- The dedicated editing panels for Filters and Composers have been combined into a single 'Edit' panel. Builder properties are also edited in this panel.
- Encoding options are now presented using a categorized combo box that allows, for example, to more clearly differentiate the new GPU rendering options.
- Mouse Prelight Clickable icons now prelight under the mouse, improving UI interactivity.
- Preset layouts available from a button on the top menu bar.
- Middle bar button editing and layout selections functionality have been combined.
- A new menu with actions that can be applied to multiple clips is introduced when multiple clips are selected on the timeline, and a right-click context menu opens. Keyframe editors now have hamburger menus that add new features and replace the old menus accessed via keyframe icons on the sides.

- The Add Media Folder feature allows the user to import multiple media items from a folder in a single action. The user can control the file type and the maximum number of files to be added.
- New filters: Trails, Glitch, Choppy, RGB Shift.
- GPU-accelerated video encoding for h.264 formats on systems with AMD and Intel GPUs (via VAAPI) and HEVC and h.264 formats on systems with NVIDIA GPUs (via NVENC).

How to install Flowblade on Ubuntu and derivatives?
For those who are interested in being able to install this new version, they should know that it is possible to install it from the Ubuntu repositories, as well as from its derivatives, for this they only have to open a terminal and type in it:
