Focal Fossa: Ubuntu 20.04 reveals your animal's name and adjective

Ubuntu 20.04 Focal Fossa

In a few hours, Canonical will launch Ubuntu 19.10 Eoan Ermine, the October 2019 version of your operating system. The six months that have passed since Disco Dingo until the launch that will take place tomorrow have not been the most normal: it took a long time until they said that the animal would be the ermine and today, when the operating system has not yet been released, it was has released the animal that will give its name to Ubuntu 20.04: Focal Fossa.

Before continuing, we have to say that the name is not official yet. It is not known when they will announce it, but it has already been revealed on Launchpad (via OMG! ubuntu). In any case, it is worth remaining skeptical, especially because on the same platform there are bugs such as the impossibility of dragging articles from / to the desktop in Disco Dingo when it is already known that it is not a bug, but a function.

What is a Focal Fossa?

From what we see in the Wikipedia, a (or do you say a?) grave is a animal very similar to a cat, the largest carnivore in Madagascar. The adjective is related to a focus, so we could say that Focal Fossa is a pit that focuses, the central pit or the pit that attracts all eyes. In part, although at first I don't quite like it, the name suits it quite well, since Ubuntu 20.04 will be an LTS version supported for 5 years that will include important new features such as full support for ZFS as root.

Ubuntu 20.04 Focal Fossa, be that its final name or not, it will be released April 20.04. It will be the successor of an Ubuntu 19.10 Eoan Ermine that seems more like a transition version than an independent system for everything that has not arrived in time. The question about the name is a must: what do you think?
