In the next article we are going to take a look at Gmusicbrowser. This is a music collection organizer and player, open source for Gnu / Linux. It is specially designed for large libraries that contain a good number of different songs.
Note that Gmusicbrowser supports a wide variety of audio formats on the Gnu / Linux platform. This program is an open source jukebox for large collections to work with mp3 / ogg / flac / mpc files.

Gmusicbrowser installation on Ubuntu
The Gmusicbrowser application is easy to use and almost every Gnu / Linux user should be able to install it. It does not come pre-installed on many of these systems. It has to be said that users running Ubuntu 18.04 LTS and earlier versions must install the application with the APT command that we will see next. Nevertheless, if you are using version 20.04 or later, it can be installed as a Flatpak package.
For install Gmusicbrowser on Ubuntu with APT, let's start by opening a terminal (Ctrl + Alt + T). Once the terminal window is open, we will only have to use the command that we are going to see below to install the application:
sudo apt install gmusicbrowser
After the installation, we can find your pitcher in our team to start the program.
For many distributions, Flatpak is the only way to get Gmusicbrowser working. Fortunately, setting up Flatpak is very easy. For enable this technology in Ubuntu 20.04, you can follow The Guide that a colleague wrote on this blog a while ago.
Once the possibility of using Flatpak packages is available, we can install the latest version of Gmusicbrowser on our computer using the following command:
sudo flatpak install flathub org.gmusicbrowser.gmusicbrowser
Configure gmusicbrowser
To configure Gmusicbrowser so that you can listen to music with this program, you just have to follow the following instructions:
- We will start by starting the application. With the application open, we will have to look for option 'Principal'located in the top menu of the program. Within this menu, we will look for the option 'Configuration' and we click on it.
- The Gmusicbrowser configuration window will appear. From here, we will look for the tab 'Collection' and we will click on it.
- Inside the tab 'Collection'in the configuration window, we will look for the button 'Add folder'. After selecting this button, we will have to find the folder in which we store our music library.
- As soon as we add our music library to Gmusicbrowser, the music will be added to the library. Still in the «Collection«, We will click on the boxes that say 'Search for updated / deleted songs on startup'Y'Search for new songs at startup' for Gmusicbrowser to automatically add or remove new songs every time it starts.
When we finish adjusting the settings in Gmusicbrowser, we will close the settings window. Then we will look for the tab 'Collection'in the application interface. There we will see our entire music collection, and we can reproduce it.
