GNOME ends October seeing improvements in Girens, Tagger and other apps in its circle

news week in GNOME somewhat discreet, at least in number. The project has published the article of changes that have occurred in the week of October 21 to 28, and all but one mentions new versions of applications with new features. Even something has been done that, although it is true that it is not the first time, is not as typical of GNOME as it is of KDE, and that is that changes from a version in beta phase have been included in the post.

The only novelty that is not from an application is the first thing on the list, and that is that the attribute g_autofd to GLib, so it can now be used to automatically close FDs when leaving a scope, as is already possible with g_autofree y g_autoprt(). • Tagger V2022.10.5 has arrived with support for OGA and M4A files. It is an app to edit metadata from audio files, similar to MusicBrainz.

• Girens 2.0.0 has arrived as the biggest update to the Plex GTK client since the first release, with these new features:
  • Migration from GTK 3 to GTK 4.
  • Migrated from Libhandy to Libadwaita.
  • Migrated to Blueprint for ui files.
  • Improved lists for large libraries (thanks to new Gtk4 lists).
  • Redesigned the albums/artists view.
  • Redesign of the show view.
  • Added French and Norwegian translations.
  • Improved window view.
  • Many bug fixes.

• Login Manager Settings v2.beta.0 has arrived with new power settings, the ability to import/export to file and make the welcome message displayed on login bigger. Other changes have also been introduced such as:

• Flare 0.5.3 has arrived with minor new features like pasting attachments in the input box, opening attachments in the default program, and incoming call notifications. This version 0.5.3 fixes an additional critical bug that made the app unusable since Oct 26, 2022 because Signal updated its certificates.
