Happy 12th birthday Ubuntu !!

12 ago an operating system known as Ubuntu was launched into the computing world. This operating system used Gnu / Linux but tried to change many things, including ease of use by the user, something that until now was unthinkable. Many claimed that Ubuntu would last a short time, others that it was a useless project but only a few bet on it.

Today, 12 years later, Ubuntu has become a reference for the user within Gnu / Linux. Microsoft has integrated it into their Windows 10 and many have it as a true operating system, regardless of the company that supports it.

On October 20, 2004, the first version of Ubuntu was released. More than 12 years ago!

And it is that after more than 24 versions and 12 years, Ubuntu is just as fresh as the first version it released, Ubuntu 4.10 or Warty Warhog, back in October 20, 2004. So yesterday, it was indeed the birthday of this distribution. A peculiar distribution that continues to expand, being present in smart devices, professional computers and even mobile phones. Gone was that good intention of giving installation discs To spread its use, the examples of what can be done with Ubuntu were also left behind, something that is now more than clear.

The milestones that Ubuntu has achieved are enormous and more so for a Gnu / Linux distribution, that is why this twelfth birthday is so important (well, every birthday is important for a Gnu / Linux distribution). The future of Ubuntu is promising Well, not only does it have its own desktop (Unity) but it already has its own graphic server (MIR) and in a short time it will have its own packaging system that replaces the others (snap packages), moving away from the rest of the distributions and becoming in a real free and own operating system. Because yes, Ubuntu despite its changes is still free and free.
