KDE continues to fix many bugs in Plasma 5.25 while continuing to prepare 5.26

More fixes for Plasma 5.25

Just yesterday, Manjaro released a new stable version of its operating system. The stable versions of Manjaro are simply a bunch of new packages, since it is a distribution with a Rolling Release development model, but something was missing: KDE plasma 5.25. And it is that, according to their community, there are several regressions that they have to fix, and it seems that it is true, since seven days ago They advanced that they were going to fix a lot of bugs in Plasma 5.25.1 and this week there are a lot of fixes accompanied by “Plasma 5.25.2” at the end of their explanation.

El this week's article at KDE it has been called a "crazy bug-fixing spree", and indeed many have been introduced. As we have mentioned, many of them will arrive next Tuesday, coinciding with the launch of plasma 5.25.2, and it is expected that by that time everything will be more stable.

As new features, they have only mentioned one: in a Plasma Wayland session, it is now possible to disable paste with the middle click, something that I personally will not do because I love it and I miss it when I have to use Windows (Car Méven, plasma 5.26).

15 minute bugs

The total number has dropped to 59 from 65. None have been added, 2 were other things issues, and XNUMX have been resolved:

  • Windows restored in session are no longer restored to the wrong virtual desktops when using the Systemd boot feature, now enabled by default (David Edmundson, Plasma 5.25.2).

  • Kirigami-based apps with sidebars in desktop mode no longer secretly display an invisible close button in the lower right corner of the sidebar that can be accidentally clicked to confusingly close the sidebar without being able to bring it back (Frameworks 5.96) .
  • When app icons change on disk, Plasma now notices and displays the new icon in 1 second, up from 10 seconds (David Redondo, Frameworks 5.96).
  • The "Battery and Brightness" widget now shows the battery level of connected wireless touchpads (Vlad Zahorodnii, Frameworks 5.96).

  • Using the new “Tint all colors with accent color” option now also tints the title bar, without also having to check the checkbox that explicitly applies accent colors to the title bar (Eugene Popov, plasma 5.25.2).
  • Advanced firewall rules settings work again (Daniel Vrátil, Plasma 5.25.2).
  • When using a traditional task manager, open tasks no longer spontaneously rearrange when moving a pinned app with the "Keep Launchers Separate" option unchecked (Fushan Wen, Plasma 5.26).
  • NeoChat account list online buttons are visible again (Jan Blackquill, Frameworks 5.96).
  • Overlay sheets no longer sometimes have excessive bottom margins in desktop mode (Ismael Asensio, Frameworks 5.96).

When will this all come to KDE?

Plasma 5.25.2 will arrive next Tuesday, June 28, Frameworks 5.96 will be available on July 9th and Gear 22.04.3 two days earlier on July 7th. KDE Gear 22.08 does not yet have an official scheduled date, but it is known that it will arrive in August. Plasma 5.24.6 will arrive on July 5, and Plasma 5.26 will be available from October 11.

To enjoy all this as soon as possible we have to add the repository backports from KDE or use an operating system with special repositories like Kde neon or any distribution whose development model is Rolling Release.
