Tras May'sWe already have the June one here. We are talking about KDE Gear 22.04.2, the second maintenance update to the KDE suite of apps that was originally released in April. As such, it is here to fix bugs, not to add truly outstanding new features. This is reserved for the April, August and December versions. In the rest of the months updates are released to make the software more reliable and remove bugs.
As usual, KDE has published two articles about this release, one in which announce your arrival and another with the full list of changes. In total, on KDE Gear 22.04.2 103 bugs have been fixed, most of which are again for the famous Kdenlive video editor. The editor has added a lot of new features over the years, but all of that needs to be polished.
KDE Gear 22.04.2 Corrective Update
In addition to the release note and the list of fixes, KDE has also posted a page on its wiki for download the software and the link to the source code for KDE Gear 22.04.2, this specifically. Still, the best thing for most users is to wait for our Linux distribution to add the new packages and install them as one more update.
The release of KDE Gear 22.04.2 has become official this afternoon in Spain, but you will have to have a little patience to be able to install it on most Linux distributions. There are already some apps from this set on Flathub, and all the new packages will be coming to KDE neon soon if they haven't already. As for whether they will arrive in Kubuntu 22.04 + Backports PPA, the answer should be yes, especially now that they have already released the second maintenance update. If it doesn't arrive today, KDE Gear 22.04.3 almost certainly will.
