KDE gives you a PC if you are the winner in their promotional video contest

Would you like to win a gaming pc just for sharing a video showing the best of KDE to the world. Sounds dreamy, don't you think? But this is not the case, since a few days ago the guys from KDE launched a call on their website in which it consists of a contest in which everyone can participate.

And is that the KDE team is looking for filmmakers (fans) whatTwo small commercials will be filmed before February 20, in which they are divided into two categories, one of them is showing the KDE Plasma desktop environment and the other category is directed to KDE applications.

The rules for creating the video are as follows:

  • There are two categories: Plasma and Applications.
  • The deadline for submissions is midnight (UTC) on January 15, 2020. Winners will be selected on January 22, 2020. ATTENTION: The deadline for submissions has been extended until February 20, 2020.
  • Your video must be original and created specifically for the contest
  • Your video can be any type of video that Plasma or KDE applications display
  • Your video must be released to KDE under a copyleft license (CC By, CC By-SA), or released into the public domain or equivalent (CC0)
  • Even if your work doesn't win, your submission can still be used to promote KDE software
  • You can submit up to 3 entries for each category.
  • Video files must be in MP4, WEBM or OGV format, and must be accompanied by source files and resources (music, clips, etc.) in a non-proprietary format (kdenlive, blend, etc.) and under a license FLOSS.
  • The videos can be hosted by any third party service such as PeerTube, YouTube, Vimeo or directly downloadable from a storage service (FTP or similar) or in the cloud.
  • The resources must be available for download from a storage service (FTP or similar) or in the cloud.
  • The minimum size for your submission should be 1080p (1920 × 1080) and should be between 1 and 2 minutes long.
  • The organizers will disqualify and delete any entry that is racist, sexist, degrading or inappropriate in any way.

  • Disqualifications and eliminations are final and cannot be repeated.

The selection process will be carried out by a jury composed of members of the KDE Promo group and members of the Kdenlive community. At the end of the presentation phase, three finalists will be selected per category for the second round and everyone will receive the standard prize offered by TUXEDO.

The second round will last one week, during which the judges may ask to modify some aspects of the videos to make them more suitable for Plasma. At the end of that week, the winning videos will be selected.

The two winning videos must belong to two different people. There will only be one winning video per category, but even if your work is not selected, KDE can still use your submission. The jury's decision is final.

For the part of the prizes, the one that offers the best commercial for KDE Plasma will receive a Tuxedo Gaming PC with:
