KXStudio, Ubuntu-based audio production distribution

KX Studio

KX Studio is a set of tools and plug-ins for audio and video production.

These tools and plug-ins can be used directly in Ubuntu, although, to make things easier for users, the project also has a installation image based on Ubuntu LTS 12.04.3. The installation image features branch 4.11 of the software build of KDE and a large number of applications related to audio production, such as:

  • Ardor
  • Audacious
  • Audacity
  • Bristol
  • Cadence
  • Guitaris
  • Hydrogen
  • JAmin
  • tillage
  • LMMS
  • Mixxx
  • muse
  • Phasex
  • Q Sampler
  • Qsynth
  • renoise
  • Rosegarden
  • sooperlooper
  • sunvox
  • VMPK

The image also includes more general programs, such as Firefox, Clementine, GIMP, Inkscape, Kden Live, SMPlayer, VLC, digiKam, Blender, and so on. In addition to all this, other tools and plug-ins related to audio production can be installed from their official repositories, which makes KXStudio a complete distribution for this task. Another cool feature of KXStudio is that it uses the JACK audio server by default in applications that support it.

The appearance of KXStudio is quite pleasing to the eye. It uses a dark QtCurve theme to ensure a uniform appearance in Qt and GTK + 2 applications - and soon GTK + 3. You can see a screenshot of the distribution in the image that heads this post.

Downloading KX Studio It can be done from the following links:

The size of the installation images is 1.8 GB for 32-bit and 1.9 GB for 64-bit.
