Linux Mint 19.2 "Tina", now available its first beta in Cinnamon, Xfce and MATE

Linux Mint 19.2

After a time in which doubts invaded him, partly dispelled by checking the support received from the community, Clement Lefebvre arrives with good news: we can now download the beta of Linux Mint 19.2, codenamed "Tina." The final version will be an LTS release, which means that it will be supported until 2023. It will be available in Cinnamon, Xfce and MATE, the same graphical environments in which it has been available for some versions.

The new version comes with many new features, but keep in mind that it does not include the latest to come to the Ubuntu family. And it is that «Tina» will be based on Ubuntu 18.04, the version that Canonical released in April 2018 (15 months ago), and the kernel version they will share will be 4.15. What will be more updated will be the versions of its graphical environments, including MATE 1.22, Xfce 4.12 and Cinnamon 4.2. Below we detail the most outstanding news that will arrive with Linux Mint 19.2.

Linux Mint 19.2 highlights

If everything is correct (and it seems that it is not because the latest version of MATE is seen in the list of new features of the Cinnamon version), the three versions share many new features such as:

  • Latest versions of Cinnamon, MATE and Xfce.
  • The Mint Tools have been improved, among which we have the update manager, the software manager and the system reporting tool.
  • Improvements in the menu, in the scroll bar, possibility of shortcutting folders in the file manager and in file sharing (Cinnamon).
  • Improvements in the wallpapers.
  • Improved overall picture.
  • Performance improvements.
  • You have all the news in these links: Cinnamon, Xfce y MATE.

The exact date of the official Linux Mint 19.2 "Tina" release has not yet been released, but we can think that it will take place before September. Are you one of the happy Linux Mint users and can't wait to try its next release?
