In the following article we are going to see an application for creating and managing audio tracks. The application is called Linux MultiMedia Studio or LMMS is a free software digital audio workstation (GPL licensed) and multi platform that allows us to produce music with our equipment.
LMMS is a audio workstation for audio designers and anyone looking to spend time creating their own music. It is an alternative to programs such as FL Studio, Logic Pro or Cubase since it is professional in nature. It is developed in C ++ using QT as a framework.
All the action of the program takes place in a single window. On the left side, you can see the neat tools to easily find and use them. In the body of the main window, you have the workspace to organize the windows that you add.
LMMS tools
Now we are going to take a look at some of these tools. First of all we will find the “Instrument plugins”. These plugins extend the functionality of LMMS adding more custom functions like a sound emulator, synthesizer, etc.
The tool of “My projects"Contains todas the songs you have created. Also, you can add and listen to songs created and contributed by others.
The tool "my samples" provides preset sounds so you can create one and reuse it when you need it again in one of your projects.
With the option "my presets" you can add sounds to your liking. Well, you can preset it, save it, and then use it over and over again.
"My home”Will allow us to examine the user's personal directory.
"root-home”Will give us the option to examine the root directory of the computer.
Lmms song editor
This section is where the main sub-window is and where you can find all your demos, clips and basic sounds, beats, etc. They are organized together so that they can be found and assembled easily.
"Beat Bassline Editor”Provides us with all those fantasy sounds and you will find it in this sub-window. This is a good way to keep the rhythm of your song.
"FX Mixer”Is the option with which you can give the finishing touch to your song.
"controller-rack"Contains all user created controls when writing your project. It is an advanced tad-bit.

To put some fault to this fantastic application, it should be clarified that you need basic knowledge of music. Its synthesis sounds can be improved for certain instruments (everything will come). Also say that you do not expect a program superior to Sound Forge Pro, even though there is work to improve, there are still some to correct.
LMMS is a great tool if you want to create music from your computer. Personally, I use it to check my tempos in music notation while playing guitar (I'm still just starting out). But each user can use it for any of the possibilities that this program will give us. Maybe to create a new song and impress your friends and family.
This program also gives us the possibility, if you have the necessary knowledge of write a plugin to customize it according to the user's needs and thus be able to do what the program does not allow us to do.
Installing lmms
To install this application we just have to launch the terminal (Ctrl + Alt + T). Then with the following command we can install LMMS in your Ubuntu in a simple way.
sudo apt install lmms
… Once the installation is finished we will be able to open LMMS. You can search for the launcher in Dash, or press this key combination alt + f2 and then type LMMS or launch it from the terminal calling it by the same name.

Uninstalling lmms
To remove this program from your operating system, you just have to open a terminal (Ctrl + Alt + T) and write the following command in it:
sudo apt remove lmms && sudo apt autoremove
