A few weeks ago, Lubuntu users received the joyous news of the update of their distribution to LXQT, the new lightweight desktop that will be the future of LXDE. But this moment has not lasted long because recently, the developers of Lubuntu, have published a tweet in which Announce that Lubuntu 17.04 will not have LXQT as planned. Various development issues have made LXQT unfeasible and users have to wait.
Lubuntu 17.04 will not have LXQT although it is expected to be during this 2017
It seems like the problem is in the Lubuntu-QT-Desktop package, the desktop meta-package. However this does not prevent Lubuntu users as well as users of other Ubuntu flavors from enjoying LXQT. Actually in the official repositories you will find the LXQT 0.11 version of this desktop, version that can be installed through a terminal and typing the following:
sudo apt install lxqt -y
This will install the lightweight desktop but will not make dangerous changes to the distribution. The Lubuntu team has apologized to the users for the inconvenience, they know that it is something that the Lubuntu users are looking forward to but it will be something that will take time to arrive, although this year we will see LXQT in LubuntuIn other words, Lubuntu 17.10 will have LXQT as the main desktop, at least if there is no serious problem with development.
We're behind schedule on LXQt images for 17.04, therefore we will not release LXQt images for 17.04.
More details coming soon.

Lubuntu is a very light and functional official flavor, but it is not the only one that will use the QT libraries. If you really want bookstores and have resources, Kubuntu can be a great alternative while LXQT arrives, without forgetting that the option to install the desktop manually is still in force. In any case, it seems that this famous desk makes you want a little more Do not you think?
I installed it, but it doesn't have a task bar or application menu or anything ...
I for now linux mint. Although I know that it is based on Ubuntu I love it.
I hate them when I started with lubuntu I revived several old computers but now there will be no support for 32 bits supposedly this distro was oriented to that now I have trisquel since they turned their back on 32-bit computers and I am not saying that trisquel will last until the 2019
"Finally stays if LXQT"?
And what the hell does that mean?
