MATE Dock Applet receives progress bar like Unity

MATE Dock

MATE Dock Applet is a MATE Panel applet that shows the applications that we have open as icons. This applet also includes options so that these applications are always available in the dock, which is perfect for making the applications we use the most accessible, supports multiple work arias (or desktops) and can be added to any Mate Panel.

The latest version of the MATE Dock Applet is v0.74 and includes a couple of features that many users expected like water of May: show a progress bar like Unity and balloons above the icons for applications that support this feature. Both novelties are optional and the second of them can come in handy, for example, for social applications that allow us to know how many notifications we have without reading.

Other new features included in MATE Dock Applet 0.74

  • Fixed the position of window lists in unexpanded panels.
  • Fixed window list flickering at the bottom of aligned panels in GTK3 based MATE.
  • The delay before where the window lists are displayed when the mouse hovers over an application icon has been increased. Before it was half a second and now it is a full second.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause actions to be pinned or unset to an act that was on previously highlighted app icons instead of one that was currently highlighted.
  • Window list text shortened when pinning / unpinning.
  • When you start dragging an application icon, the list of windows is now hidden.

How to install MATE Dock Applet

MATE Dock Applet is available in the Ubuntu MATE 16.04 and 16.10 default repositories, but not the latest version. If you want to use the version that is currently in the official repositories, you can do so by opening a terminal and typing the following command:

sudo apt install mate-dock-applet

If you want to install the latest version, you will have to add the repository of WebUpd8, update the repositories and install the Applet with the following commands:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:webupd8team/mate
sudo apt update
sudo apt install mate-dock-applet

And why don't you mention that the original source is Webupd8, you will end up as From Linux, copying without leaving source

Hello, Anonymous. It is cited, when mentioning the repository, where the link to the web is. The link is in orange, so it is not that it is not seen, right?

      A greeting.
