We present to you Method 2, an impressive robot of almost 4 meters that moves thanks to Ubuntu

Method 2 reminds this robot from Alien 2

If you like Alien movies, I think it will be enough to name the end of the second film in the saga to remind you of Ripley inside a robot with which she faces an Alien queen. If you are not fans of the saga, just look at the header image of this post to know what a robot called reminded me method 2 within which a person also goes. Another example for younger people would be the armor that humans wear in the movie Avatar.

But why do we talk about Method 2 in Ubunlog? Simple: we are talking about world's first manned robot and guess what operating system it uses? Ubuntu. In the video that you have below you can see the first steps of this great robot of about 4 meters high. But don't ask him to dance, or at least not yet.

Method 2, the world's first giant manned robot

As you can see, inside the cabin there is a seated person who will move his arms to move the robot's arms with practically no delay or lag. Method 2 is able to walk like a human, but either I am wrong a lot or it walks responding to a command or another type of controller, that is, unlike what happens with the hands, the robot will walk at its own pace when we indicate it in a way that we cannot see in the video, but he does not move his legs at the same time as the human who drives it (because he is sitting).

Each arm of this robot similar to the armor of Avatar weighs no less than 130kg, slightly less than 10% of the total weight of the robot, about 1.5 tons. Its usefulness can encompass a whole world of possibilities, but if you are remotely thinking of acquiring one - it is a way of speaking - surely you will forget when you know that it will have a price of more than 7.9 million euros. If you are still interested in its purchase, it is said that it could go on sale at the end of 2017.

Almost more like Alíen's robot, more like the one used in the movie Avatar.

Hi Suso GD. I also comment on it in the post (2 times) 😉 What happens is that for me the "Alien: The Return" is more striking because it is a film that "advanced" it much earlier.

      A greeting.
