Functionality is implemented through plugins. Currently, there are two sets of plugins available: official and unofficial. The range of capabilities covered by plugins is wide enough - from integration with various online services and the implementation of a web interface for managing the system over the network, to tools for working with a webcam and organizing communications from video between PC.

Main novelties of MythTV 34.0

In this new version that is presented of MythTV 34.0, the new web application interfaceb which provides access to all MyTV settings. The new web application interface, accessible through from port 6544 (http://yourBackend:6544).

  • Added a feature to sync external subtitles with the video stream.
  • Added a directory component by including the mitobaseexp.h file.
  • The topic has been changed to all of MythCenter.
  • Added more details to channel APIs
  • Added “Smooth Transitions” setting to the menu.

How to install MythTV on Ubuntu and derivatives?

Si do you want to install this application on your system, you can do it in a fairly simple way, since MythTV is available in the official repositories of the latest versions of Ubuntu and also has a PPA from which you can get the latest versions much earlier than in the Ubuntu repositories.

In this case, in order to obtain the new version that was released a few hours ago, we are going to rely on the PPA.

To add it to our system, we just have to open a terminal (you can use the key combination Ctrl + Alt + T) and in it you will type the following command:

 sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mythbuntu/34 -y

And to carry out the installation we are just going to type:

 sudo apt-get install mythtv

And ready with it, they will already have this application installed on their systems.

How to uninstall MythTV on Ubuntu and derivatives?

If you want to remove this application from your system, just go back to the Ubuntu Software Center and search for the application and the button to remove it from the system will appear.

In the same way, from the terminal you can uninstall it with the following command:

sudo apt-get remove mythtv --auto-remove

And with this the application will be eliminated.
