The new Facebook lab will have Ubuntu on their computers

Canonical Logo

Ubuntu and Canonical are gradually becoming two benchmarks within the software world, so much so that Facebook has chosen Ubuntu and the rest of Canonical's products to install it on the computers in that lab. In other words, the new Facebook products that are made in this laboratory will be made with Ubuntu.

For this new location of one of Facebook's laboratories, Canonical will not only use its Juju software platforms but also will use MASS, a platform similar to Juju but focused on the world of hardware.

Canonical will bring its MASS, Juju, Ubuntu and Ubuntu Core to Facebook computers

Canonical is also one of the most active members of the OCP (Open Compute Project) consortium, a consortium that seeks to create customized, efficient, scalable and flexible hardware solutions for users. Something that it has constantly demonstrated and that in this union it will demonstrate again, not only with Juju and its software solutions but also with hardware solutions with the use of servers with arm architecture. In any case, this union is still interesting for everyone, not only for Facebook users but also for Ubuntu users and Canonical products that will benefit from the opinion and test of hundreds of thousands of users.

Thus, Facebook isn't the first big tech company to use Ubuntu's services. In this area we have companies like Microsoft or Ericcson as large companies that have started to use Canonical software and continue to do so.

I hope this union is very fruitful, obtaining more Facebook products for Ubuntu, Ubuntu Phone and / or Ubuntu Core, as a WhatsApp app for Ubuntu Phone or an official Facebook app for devices with Ubuntu or Ubuntu Phone What do you think?
