Nixnote 2, a solution for Evernote users

Nixnote 2, a solution for Evernote users

There are more and more users of the famous note program, Evernote and despite all this, there is still no an official Evernote client for Ubuntu or Gnu / Linux. Although it is true that we have some solutions to such a problem. One of them is everpadPerhaps the best known, but personally I do not like how it works; another alternative is Nixnote, an unofficial client that will undergo major changes in its second version.

Nixnote is a great client to which a great use of memory of the system is attributed, it is not illogical since it is written in Java, a programming language that has the drawback of creating heavy programs. Therefore, the author, receiving all this feedback has decided to rewrite all the application in C ++, a lighter language in terms of memory usage.

If you have a fairly loose team in terms of features, you can use the first version of nix note, which is written in java, otherwise I recommend nix note 2, that although until Alpha 3 version is unusable, recently, throughout this day, has been launched Alpha 4 version, which in the words of its creator, is a usable and productive version.

How to install Nixnote 2 on Ubuntu

nix note 2 It is not found in the official repositories of Ubuntu so we will have to use the terminal to install it on our computer, but first, we will have to install the dependencies for it to work. nix note 2 is written in C++ but for it to work well you need to install some Qt libraries In order to adapt well to the system, those dependencies are installed as follows through the console:

sudo apt-get install libpoppler-qt4-4 neat mimetex

Once we have these dependencies installed, we go to the author's website and we downloaded the program. We unzip it and run the program. This will make this version of nix note 2. As is logical, this method does not insert the program into our system, so if we want to integrate our account Evernote with Nixnote 2 we will have to go to Tools> Preferences, there we will enter the data of our Evernote account and synchronization will begin.

He is honestly not a big customer of EvernoteAt least to this day I have not seen any application for Ubuntu that equals the quality of the official application for Windows, but it is the best there is for Ubuntu. If you use Evernote As a productivity tool, I do not recommend using nix note 2, but if you use Evernote sporadically, Nixnote 2 is your client. Try it and you will tell me.
