OBS Studio 25.0 is now available and these are its news

OBS-Studio

Recently the launch of the new version of the project “OBS Studio 25.0” was announced which is an application that It allows to carry out the transmission, composition and video recording.

OBS or also known as "Open Broadcaster Software" is a free and open source application, this is an application multi platform which can be used on Linux, Mac and Windows, is written in C and C ++ and distributed under the GPLv2 license. Builds are created for Linux, Windows, and macOS.

The goal of OBS Studio development is to create a free analog of application Open Broadcaster Software that is not tied to a Windows platform that supports OpenGL and is extensible through plugins.

The difference is also the use of a modular architecture, which implies a separation of the interface and the core of the program. Source stream recording, video capture during games, and streaming on Twitch, Mixer, YouTube, DailyMotion, Hitbox, and other services are supported. To ensure high performance, you can use hardware acceleration mechanisms (for example, NVENC and VAAPI).

Compositing support is provided with building a stream-based scene Arbitrary video, webcam data, video capture cards, images, text, the content of the application windows or the full screen.

In the streaming process, it is allowed to switch between various predefined scenes (for example, to switch views with an emphasis on screen content and webcam image). The program also provides tools for mixing sound, filtering using VST plugins, equalizing volume, and reducing noise.

Main new features of OBS Studio 25.0

With the release of this new version it stands out that now in OBS Studio 25.0 se can capture the screen contents of games based on the Vulkan graphical API, besides that it has been added a new window capture method which allows you to stream the content of browser windows and UWP (Universal Windows Platform) programs.

The disadvantage of the new method is the possible appearance of jumps in the movement of the cursor and highlighting the edges of the window. By default, automatic mode is activated, which uses the classic capture method for most windows and the new method for browsers and UWP.

Another of the changes that stands out in this new version is thate added the ability to import extended scene collections from other streaming programs (in the Scene Collection menu -> Import).

Added support for devices, such as Logitech StreamCam, It automatically rotates the output when you change the horizontal and vertical orientation of the camera.

Of the other changes that we can find in this new version are:

  • Added hotkeys for playback control (stop, pause, play, repeat).
  • Added support for dragging and dropping URLs to create broadcast feeds with a browser.
  • Added support for the SRT (Secure Reliable Transport) protocol.
  • Added ability to limit volume values for sound sources via context menu in mixer.
  • Advanced sound settings provide the ability to view all available sound sources.
  • Added support for Cube LUT files.
