OpenExpo Europe begins in Madrid

openexpo europe 2018

During today and tomorrow in Madrid will take place a new edition of OpenExpo Europe, one of the most important events related to Free Software.

As in previous editions, OpenExpo Europe will take place in Madrid, specifically at La Nave de Madrid. There it started this morning with the opening by Chema Alonso, one of the most famous Spanish hackers and a great expert in computer security. In addition to Chema Alonso's talk, in this year's edition we will have the presence of other experts related to Free Hardware, Smart Cities, the Cloud world, Fintech or cybersecurity. Highlighting the presence of David Cuartielles, Jim Jagielski, Yaiza Rubio, Gontzal Uriarte or Obi-Juan.

During the day of tomorrow, the event will remain active but the center of activity will be in the OpenAwards, a contest for Free Software companies, in whose edition this year more than 130 companies have participated.

The networking and forums are still active today and tomorrow, being the most important characteristic of this event and the one that is giving so many successes to Free Software.

Since this event was born until the current edition there have been many companies that have opted for communication and Free Software although we have to say that certain relevant companies in the technology sector are still missing. One of them is Canonical, a company with Red Hat, very popular within the Free Software Community but it seems that it has decided not to participate in this event.

You can still participate in the OpenExpo Europe, although only as a visitor or listener, so if you are near La Nave, take advantage and attend one of the most important Free Software events.
