Plasma 5.19.2 arrives fixing few bugs in this series, including several regressions

plasma 5.19.2

When neither of the two previous versions have arrived in the KDE Backports repository yet, the project has released Plasma 5.19.2. This is the second maintenance release in this series and, personally, I have not found any official statement that explains what is happening and why the versions are not reaching the Backports repository. In any case, the release is already official and it will be available soon in KDE neon.

As usual, KDE has published several articles about the arrival of Plasma 5.19.2, one of them to announce the launch and other to mention all the changes made. In the v5.19.1 of the graphical environment so many changes were made, so many that it was difficult to keep track. This time, KDE has also introduced novelties to polish the graphical environment, although much less. Below you have a list of the most outstanding news that have arrived today.

Plasma 5.19.2 Highlights

  • Fixed several Plasma 5.19 regressions (will arrive in Plasma 5.19.2):
    • Screen Borders effects now work again.
    • The "Configure Window Manager" menu item in the title bar context menu now works again.
    • The WiFi network names in the Networks applet no longer interpret HTML, preventing maliciously crafted network names from doing potentially nefarious things.
    • The global menu applet once again updates correctly when the current application changes.
    • The KRunner window is once again positioned correctly when using a high DPI screen and the environment variable PLASMA_USE_QT_SCALING = 1.
    • There is no longer a faint blue outline around the circular timeout indicator for notification pop-ups.
  • When interacting with the media controls on the lock screen, the timer that determines when the UI fades will now stop.
  • Copy system info to clipboard in English now actually uses English for everything.
  • Search feature on new system monitor setup pages now works.
  • The circular timeout indicator in notification pop-ups no longer leaves a faint blue outline around the outer edges as it rotates.
  • The new system monitor widgets now have healthier default sizes.

The release of Plasma 5.19.2 it's official, but considering what has happened in the previous two versions, we cannot know when it will arrive in the KDE Backports repository. We do know that soon, in a matter of minutes, the new packages will appear in KDE neon, and also in other distributions that use special repositories.
