Plasma 5.25.2 arrives correcting many bugs, in case the ones from seven days ago were not enough

plasma 5.25.2

Just a week ago, KDE released the first maintenance update of Plasma 5.25, and it came with many fixes. It's easy for bugs to show up after a first version of a GUI like Kubuntu, but it seemed like too many. As if that weren't enough, a few moments ago have thrown Plasma 5.25.2, and it has arrived with another handful of fixes that make us think that 5.25 did not arrive in the good form that we all would have liked.

But that there are corrections can also have its positive side. It can mean that they are finding and eliminating them, and you just have to remember that Plasma 5.24 arrived thinking that everything was going well and the bugs were appearing over time. In any case, the list is long, and what you have below is only part of it.

Some new features of Plasma 5.25.2

  • Windows restored in session are no longer restored to the wrong virtual desktops when using the Systemd boot feature, now enabled by default.
  • In the X11 Plasma session, the "Show Windows" and "Overview" effect buttons no longer work only every other time they are clicked.
  • The Edit Mode toolbar now splits into multiple rows when the screen is not wide enough to accommodate it.
  • Discover now determines the priority of Flatpak repositories (when more than one is configured) from the flatpak command line tool, and changes the priority there as well if changed in Discover, so the two always stay in sync.
  • It is again possible to drag individual windows from one desktop to another in the desktop grid effect.
  • In the Present Windows effect, it is again possible to activate windows that are on a different screen than the one used to write the text in the filter.
  • Switching virtual desktops no longer occasionally leaves ghost windows.
  • USB-C external displays work properly again.
  • Fixed a variety of keyboard search, focus, and navigation issues with the new Present Windows effect, bringing it back to keyboard use in Plasma 5.24.
  • It is again possible to select desktops with the keyboard in the Desktop Grid effect.
  • In the X11 Plasma session, windows tiled to the left or right no longer sometimes cause strange flickering.
  • Screen locker no longer crashes if support for the Howdy facial recognition system has been manually installed.
  • The highlighted squares reappear when you hover over the application panel.
  • Using the new “Tint all colors with accent color” option now also tints the title bar, without also having to check the checkbox that explicitly applies accent colors to the title bar.
  • Advanced firewall rules settings work again.

plasma 5.25.2 It was announced this afternoon, and will soon be coming to KDE neon and the KDE Backports repository. It will reach the rest of the distributions depending on their philosophy and development model.
