Have you ever heard the cliché that Linux is not the best idea if you want to play games on your computer? That's because whoever said it probably didn't know about the PlayDeb repository.
PlayDeb is a repository available since Ubuntu version 12.04 and that It contains multiple games and related applications that are not included in the official repositories.
Once PlayDeb has been added to our list of repositories we can simply access its Official Site and search for the game that we want from a long list where we will find everything perfectly classified, or directly search for any of them in our software center.
How to install PlayDeb?
Very simple, we just have to add it to our list of repositories:
We edit the sources.list file:
sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list
And we add at the end the corresponding repository with our distribution:
If you use Ubuntu 12.04:
Playdeb deb http://archive.getdeb.net/ubuntu precise-getdeb apps games
If you use Ubuntu 13.04:
Playdeb deb http://archive.getdeb.net/ubuntu raring-getdeb apps games
If you use Ubuntu 14.04:
Playdeb deb http://archive.getdeb.net/ubuntu trusty-getdeb games
Save the changes and add the public key through the terminal:
wget -q -O- http://archive.getdeb.net/getdeb-archive.key | sudo apt-key add - sudo apt-get update
Clever! We can already enjoy a long list of games on our Ubuntu.
Posible problems
It is possible that even if we follow all the steps to the letter, we click on one of the games on the PlayDeb page and we get a screen like this:
No problem. We just have to look for the Software Center in its location / usr / bin / software-center and once we have selected it, check the box "Remember my choice for apt links." and everything is ready, it will not give you problems again.
It was easy right? now it only remains to take time out of the routine and start to try all the variety of games that the developers that collaborate with PlayDeb offer us. To play!
