Qupzilla

Qupzilla is a lightweight, cross-platform and open source browserThis is based on QtWebKit, the browser has all the functions that a browser should have, among which it includes bookmarks, history (both in the sidebar) and the tabs, address bar, etc.

Qupzilla it also implements an RSS reader included, has ad blocking with a built-in AdBlock plugin and also has the ability to edit the local CA certificate database with an SSL manager.4

The Navigator It has been updated to its new version 2.2.0, this being its last stable version, since as of this only maintenance updates will be obtained since the next version is called Falkon and will be part of the KDE team.

Among its new developments we obtain:

  • The choice of the background of the backup item.
  • Print preview dialog.
  • Tab icon is already hidden when page has no icon.
  • Location bar enhancer with search suggestions.
  • Session manager added.
  • Better handling of download dependencies in GreaseMonkey scripts.
  • Various improvements to the TabManager extension.

QupZilla changes to Falkon.

As I had commented, the QupZilla team has sought refuge within KDE and that is why now the project will be taken over by the KDE team and with it the project will have a much better development in addition to improving bug tracking, continuous integration, wiki.

Regarding the objectives of the project there will be no changes, so the support for the various platforms will continue as follows.

Finally the project will change its name when integrating with KDE with which after version 2.2.0 it will be known as Falkon.

QupZilla is having more strength as time goes by and it is that its mission is being fulfilled in being a light option for the user in terms of web browser.

How to install QupZilla on Ubuntu 17.04?

If you want to install the browser inside your system, you don't have to do much since it is found directly from the official Ubuntu repositories, to install it you can do it from the Ubuntu Software Center or the other option is using the terminal.

To do this, we will open a terminal and type the following:

sudo apt-get install qupzilla

The truth is that if you do not have many resources or you are one of those who like the optimization of the system to the maximum, QupZilla is for you.
