Lector, an ebook reader for Kubuntu users

The GNU / Linux world is satisfied for the management of ebooks and digital readings, but there is nothing written about tastes and many users are still looking for a good ebook reader. In this case we are going to talk about Lector, an ebook reader for platforms using QT libraries. In this case, Kubuntu and Lubuntu LXQT stand out, but it is true that Ubuntu and other official flavors can have this ebook reader and read any ebook in a simple and fast way.

Lector is a program that Supports the following ebook formats: pdf, epub, mobi, azw / azw3 / azw4 and cbr / cbz. That is, able to read any ebook from the Amazon store, comic or an ebook that we download from any web page. Like many other similar programs, Lector is capable of modifying the type of font, the background of the text, the color and size of the font, going to full screen, etc ... It is not capable of managing ebooks but what we have to say what Reader is able to edit the ebook's metadata, something interesting to prevent malware or edit the metadata of our library. It may be that this Reader feature makes a difference from other ebook readers. Another interesting function is the indexing of documents, a function that allows us not to have duplicate documents, something that many ebook readers do by default, including the great Caliber.

Unfortunately, Reader it is not in the official Ubuntu repositories or in Kubuntu. But it can be installed, for this we must have the following libraries or packages: Qt5 5.10.1; Python 3.6; PyQt5 5.10.1; python-requests 2.18.4; python-beautifulsoup4 4.6.0; poppler-qt5 0.61.1 and python-poppler-qt5 0.24.2.

If we comply with these libraries, we only have to download the zip package from the official Github repository; We open a terminal in the folder that is created when unzipping the file and we write the following:

python setup.py build
python setup.py install

After that, Lector will be installed in our operating system and it will be ready to work and show us all our reading documents. For the moment It is the only method that exists and works to have Reader in UbuntuBut something tells me I won't be the only one for a long time Do not you think?

It seems to me that it has many dependencies as requirements but I suppose it is worth it
