LibreOffice's RedRibbon will be called MUFFIN

MUFFIN by Libreoffice

Several days ago we heard and learned about the new LibreOffice interface. This new interface will mark the arrival of Red Ribbon to LibreOffice. But currently we can say that it will not be Microsoft's Red Ribbon but something more free and practical for the user.

The new LibreOffice interface will be called MUFFIN, an interface that will resemble the Microsoft interface but with many changes that are possibly more positive for the end user.

MUFFIN will be the new interface that will appear in LibreOffice 5.3, the next stable version that The Document Foundation will launch soon and that we can get through this link, although it will be an unstable version and still in tests.

The first point of MUFFIN already has a great difference with Red Ribbon and it will be its strong point and that is the LibreOffice user will decide if he wants to use this new interface or if he wants to continue with the old interface. This function will not only be in LibreOffice 5.3 but it will be in future versions of LibreOffice and it will be something that will be available to all users throughout the use of LibreOffice, that is, if we want the MUFFIN interface and we don't like it, then we can go back to the old interface and vice versa.

It is also something that the distributions will play with, that is, some will automatically put the new interface while others will leave the old one. In the case of Ubuntu we do not know yet what it will do but everything seems to indicate that the interface that we have in a standard way will be MUFFIN.

Personally, I don't dislike MUFFIN, nor do I dislike Red Ribbon when I use it, but it is true that Microsoft's decision affected many users negatively, as much or more as the disappearance of clipper. Is possibly so LibreOffice leaves the option to choose, an option that users always like, don't you think?

I think it's good that you can choose an interface, ideal for the most conservative. Personally, I would use the new interface, I did not test it but I like that they innovate interfaces, something that most GNU / Linux apps lack and that makes them more pleasant for the users to see. It must be recognized that not all GNU / Linux users are developers and they are only interested in whether it works well, many, if not most, are ordinary desktop users who are more attracted, perhaps, to a nice interface than to the operation itself.
