Shuttleworth: "Ubuntu will have no back doors"

Mark_Shuttleworth

During this week a lot of information is being known about the new versions of Ubuntu. But the most important thing may be the declaration of Mark Shuttleworth on Ubuntu Security. According to the charismatic Ubuntu leader, the distribution will have no back door now or in the future.

The encryption that exists in the distribution is done for the security of the user and so that the Ubuntu team has the possibility to choose what to make public and what not to do. This is at least what Shuttleworth has stated on the website eWeeky.com, a website where it seems that the leader has vented his anger on the subject. Ubuntu has been one of the first operating systems to be accused of having back doors and pass information of its users to other companies. This was stated by Stallman and so far Canonical employees had not declared anything about it.

Shuttleworth claims Ubuntu won't have a backdoor now or ever

They just didn't get into the discussion. But it seems that silence has been broken as the technological situation has become a bit more complicated since the FBI affair. Or, Shuttleworth may want to reach out to many users who want to abandon highly insecure mobiles.

Either way Shuttleworth's words will not fall on deaf ears. Many detractors of Ubuntu will use the words to attack the distribution just as many others will feel more secure. The truth is that in recent months, without saying anything, Ubuntu and its community have notably improved the issue of privacy and security, being one of the safest operating systems or at least freer than there are where the user's choice matters. Surely this will continue to be the case, but Will governments or security forces do something about it?

As long as you have the same security as the brand new Software Center… let's go. How can we trust a company that offers such poor quality software?

As for security, I do not speak, because I do not see that it compromises it at first. It is true that it causes problems with third-party packages, but if you want to blame someone, talk to Gnome's "rock", who is the one who develops it, not Cannonical.

Totally agree but…, if a product is bad, why the hell do you put it in your distribution? and also you advertise it as a big change in the new 16.04
Having stayed with the old one, although heavy it fulfilled its function.
In any case, I trust that they will fix it soon, otherwise it would mean that the "desktop" branch does not matter to them very little.
