The fourth edition of OpenExpo exceeds all expectations

Open Expo Madrid 2017

On June 1, it took place in Madrid the fourth edition of OpenExpo, a technological event focused on the free software and open source which welcomed 3122 visitors (42% of them industry professionals, including CIOs, CEOs or IT Consultants), all of them gathered to discuss current content on cybersecurity, Blockchain, cloud computing, Big Data, Learning Machines or Smart Cities, among other things.

One of the most prominent speakers at OpenExpo 2017 was Chema Alonso, also considered the most famous hacker in Spain and Head of Data for Telefónica, who made a spectacular live demo in which he managed to hack a mobile phone through the terminal's Bluetooth connection. But those attending the event have had the possibility of enjoying the talks of other industry experts, such as Pau Garcia-Milá, founder of EyeOS, Yuri Fernández, director of communications at Uber for Spain, as well as other professionals from companies such as Repsol, Liberty Seguros, etc.

In total, visitors to OpenExpo 2017 have had at their disposal more than 5900 m2 of La N @ ve in Madrid with a wide range of interactive activities focused on innovation and the latest trends in the technology sector, such as virtual reality, Formula E car simulators, Tesla electric vehicle models, robots or teleportation cabins. All this thanks to the presence of companies such as Red Hat, Microsoft, Arsys, OVH, Irontec, Exevi, OTRS, Carto, Magnolia, Hopla! Software, Docker, Bacula Systems, ackstorm, Google Cloud, mdtel, HAYS, Zextras, esri, BBVA, 87 seconds and many other startups.

One of the highlights was probably the delivery of the Open Awards 2017, which ended with winners such as ZYLK as the best service provider, Civiciti as the best case of success, Travel Air by Viajes Eroski developed by Irontec as the best digital transformation, Edupills de Educación INTEF as the most innovative project or WhiteBearSolutions, which won the award for Best Cloud Solution. Likewise, Scratch School won the award for Best Startup, while Open Source Weekends won in the category of Best Technology Community and Scalera as best medium / blog. In addition, a number of special mentions have also been awarded.

The next edition of OpenExpo will be held in the same space of La N @ ve in June 2018.
