Older Ubuntu developers drop distribution

Ubuntu Community

In the last few days we have had two strange and unpleasant news for Ubuntu members and users. Two of the most veteran developers of the distribution leave the project. One of them does it to start working on Red Hat Linux and another of them begins a rest period that we do not know when it will end.

These developers are named Daniel Holbach and Martin Pitt. They both started working on Ubuntu 13 years ago and are now leaving the project for other projects.

Possibly the most striking of these marches is that of Martin Pitt, a developer starting in January on Red Hat Linux and possibly improving the work or future versions of Red Hat Linux as he did on Ubuntu. Among his most recent merits, Martin Pitt has authored the default support for the TRIM system of disks.; fixes and developments in kernel adaptation for Ubuntu and systemd integration in Ubuntu.

The other march has been recent and the protagonist himself has done it through your personal blog. In it he says that he is really tired of the pace of work he has. Daniel Holbach wants to start new projects that are not as big or powerful as a Gnu / Linux distribution but he still wants to do them.

Along with Jono Bacon and other developers, fewer and fewer people remain from the old team that together with Shuttleworth started this great distribution which is called Ubuntu.

Something that in part negatively affects users and future versions of Ubuntu because it makes the distribution lose its principles a bit, principles that its developers followed. But it is also something positive because new sap is incorporated that will contribute new ideas and new approaches that may be of interest to the end user. In any case, I hope the march is not an exodus.

They abandon it for ideals. Canonical is very damned with the proprietary regarding certain projects and the current cooperation with Microsoft. The most normal thing is that they develop something on the sidelines or join another system.

Microsoft with respect to other systems, first contact, begins by creating, sharing and destroying what hurts you. First is your business, take note. Linux is a business mine.
