Trigger Rally, an excellent HTML5 racing game for fun

car trigger rally

Clearly you have played some HTML5 games, although they are technically impressive, many are limited demos or offer a simplistic gaming experience reminiscent of the platformer, puzzle, and shooting games we played in the 80s and 90s.

Few game developers consider web browsers to be a good substitute for native operating system or Flash code.

About Trigger Rally

Today we will talk about an excellent racing game that I am sure more than one will like Trigger Rally is a fast paced open source racing game. It uses canvas, WebGL and the three.js library (online version) and for the Linux desktop it is written in C ++.

Trigger comes with a series of challenges where you have to race multiple tracks to finish each challenge.

The game has more than 100 maps, different terrain materials such as dirt, asphalt, sand, ice, etc. It also brings various climates, light, and foggy conditions. All of this gives this rally simulator a huge advantage over many other free games.

When running a track, the player has to reach various locations marked in the form of pulsating rings. A race is won if the player reaches the last location in time.

Technically, Trigger Rally uses a JSON defined heightmap for the level geometry, a colormap in combination with an image to paint the geometry, a foliage map to place plants in the landscape, and control point coordinates to define the race path.

The sound is generated using the web audio API. A standard motor cycle changes pitch in real time as it accelerates and decelerates. It is simple but effective.

Features include:

2 vehicles for racing:
