Ubuntu 14.04.5 is now available for the furthest behind

Ubuntu 14.04

A few hours ago the Ubuntu team has released a new version of Ubuntu Trusty Tahr, that is, Ubuntu 14.04. This new version is called Ubuntu 14.04.5, that is, the fifth update of the old LTS version of Ubuntu.

This new version already available for all and focuses mainly on three points, interesting points but that do not radically change the version of Ubuntu, Ubuntu 16.04.1 is still the best LTS version today.

The new version of Trusty Tahr focuses on three points. The first one is to introduce the new updates and bug fixes that by not having they were questioning the stability and security of an LTS distribution. This has been achieved although it does not mean that it incorporates new versions of the software used in Ubuntu. For that we have another version.

The new Ubuntu 14.04.5 tries to keep the principles of an LTS version of Ubuntu

The other point that has undoubtedly been achieved in this update is compatibility with more hardware which makes it possible for Ubuntu 14.04 to be compatible with more hardware than it had in the first version released in 2014. The third point of this new version concerns the improvement of the installer. In Ubuntu 14.04.5 certain software has been updated and removed so that the specifications when installing the distribution they are a little smaller, thus solving a problem that many attributed to the Ubuntu version.

This update is highly recommended if we are still using Ubuntu Trusty Tahr or if we really have a computer with few resources, but if our computer really has enough resources to have the latest version of Ubuntu, the best thing is to go to Ubuntu 16.04.1, the latest Ubuntu LTS that is more optimized and up-to-date than the Trusty Tahr version, even better than Ubuntu 14.04.5.
