A feature that is clamored for by a significant number of users of Ubuntu it was the power minimize windows from Unity launcher. Well, after a long time this feature has finally been implemented: in Ubuntu LTS 14.04 applications can finally be minimized by clicking on their icon.
The patch was implemented by Christopher Townsend, who wrote: "Okay folks, I know it's been a long time, but we are going to implement this as an unsupported option that will allow applications to be minimized with a single window open when clicking on its icon" .
Townsend anticipated, yes, that no improvements or tweaks will be made to the implementation; hence the "unsupported option."
The option to minimize windows from the launcher Unity It will be disabled by default, users who want to use it can easily activate it from the Unity section of the CompizConfig Settings Manager.
With the implementation of this feature Christopher Townsend closed a Launchpad report which was opened no less than three years ago. Better late than never, right? The user who opened the report thanked Townsend, hoping that in the future Canonical will pay more attention to the community when it comes to options with great impact on a significant number of users.
This improvement joins many others implemented in Ubuntu 14.04, such as the borderless windows or menus built into the title bar.
I installed Unity revampved just to dispose of that !!!
