Ubuntu 20.04 Focal Fossa already includes the new Yaru theme

New Yaru theme in Ubuntu 20.04

In mid-January, Canonical advanced your plans to update the default theme of Ubuntu 20.04. The person in charge of giving the news was Martin Wimpress, who is responsible for Ubuntu MATE, and he told us that the next version of the operating system developed by Canonical would arrive with an updated theme with more uniform colors, or at least that was the intention. Today, anyone who wants to see the changes introduced can do so thanks to Focal Fossa's Daily Builds.

La nueva yaru version has appeared as an update between yesterday and today. Once the new packages are installed and the operating system restarted, what appears is what you have in the screenshot that heads this article: the first thing we will notice is that the color of the folders has changed from orange to a grayish purple. On the other hand, the options that can be dragged (sliders) or activated (switches) now show a purple color that its developers refer to as aubergine color.

The new Ubuntu 20.04 theme arrives at its Daily Build

The change will be made automatically without requiring any interaction on our part. Obviously, we will have to do something if we want to go backwards, although, from the little research I have done, if we do not like purple folders, the closest thing to what was available until today is to use the "Humanity" icons. We can make these changes with the Retouching app. What is also already available and we can also select with Retouching are the light and dark themes of Yaru. These two new versions were announced back in September, so long ago that it was even thought that they would be available in the Ubuntu 19.10 Eoan Ermine which was released in October 2019.

Users interested in testing the new theme will need to download the latest Ubuntu Daily Build (available from this link) or update Focal Fossa on computers that already have it installed. What do you think of the new theme?

Interesting. Hopefully they add the default light and dark mode. Will the Close-Minimize-Maximize buttons now be located on the left side as seen in the screenshot?

Hello friends, personally, the new yaru theme doesn't bother me, I'm using it as is, it comes without modifications except for the wallpaper. I comment that version 20.04.2 already comes in the system preferences the option to change to light or dark mode. Greetings.
