Ubuntu Mate 23.04, the "least exciting release ever" arrives with Linux 6.2 and MATE 1.26.1

Ubuntu MATE 23.04

I'm not saying it, Martin Wimpress says it: Ubuntu MATE 23.04 it's the least exciting Ubuntu MATE release ever. Its first version arrived in October 2014, and it seemed like salvation for Unity's detractors, and since then they have been adapting the classic to the new times. wimpress says which is an unexciting release, but there have been reasons why the move was less than expected: he was sick and even spent time in the hospital.

From here, in addition to wishing him a speedy recovery, we wonder if what he says is true or if he is exaggerating a bit because he had plans to do something else. But the truth is that, looking at the list of news, it looks quite normal: there is a new desktop, new applications and the rest of the improvements that are shared with the rest of the family. If this is not enough, I can't imagine what he had in mind when he started developing his Lunar Lobster.

Mr. Wimpress really contributes little, or nothing, to the development of MATE, perhaps to the maintenance of ubuntu packages, but in MATE itself he does nothing.

By the way, there is a project called CAFE desktop, which is a fork of MATE that works with CTK, a fork of GTK 3.
