GNOME Circle continues to push apps to GNOME 43, GTK4 and libadwaita

This week in GNOME

GNOME has published entry #65 about news that has happened during the last week in or near his circle. Although there are new features in existing software, there is still a lot of GNOME 43, GTK4 and libadwaita, three components on which the software in this project revolves. Gnome 43 I arrive in mid-September, and GTK4 arrived at the end of 2020. For those who think that we are late with GTK4, remember that GIMP, where the letters GTK (GIMP Took Kit) come from, still uses GTK2.

Following on from this library, GTK 4.10 will arrive in March 2023, discontinuing GtkTreeView, GtkIconView, Gtk, ComboBox and all APIs related to cell renderers. As for the rest of the news, the following list collects the changes introduced this week.

  • Video Trimmer 0.8.0 has arrived with support for GNOME 43. It now supports drag and drop to open videos in the Flatpak version and has included the new “About” dialog. Also fixed a bug that caused the app to crash when trying to open an inaccessible file.
