One more Friday, and it seems that it will continue like this for a long time, the project GNOME has spoken to us of the news that has reached your desk in the last seven days. Among the aforementioned, as seven and fourteen days ago, GTK4 and libadwaita come out several times, and it seems that it is seeking to improve consistency in one of the most used graphical environments (and its applications) in the Linux world.
In addition to its own, there are also third party software which is designed for GNOME and which you often mention in your weekly articles. Of this type of software that they have decided to include in their «Circle», perhaps the first version of Junction stands out, a very interesting selector / launcher of applications.
This week in GNOME # 15
- A big refactoring of the stylesheet has landed in libadwaita, the light and dark variants are now shared with all their differences exported as public variables and customizable by applications. This allows you to do things like reliably recolor the entire application in sepia.
- Solanum 3.0.0 has been released and is now available on Flathub, with new settings for the countdown duration and updated translations.
- short wave has revamped the shortwave station details dialog, now includes more information, and shows the location on a map for some stations. Use libshumate for the map widget. The search has been improved and now offers the possibility to filter the search results by different criteria.
- Health 0.93.0 has been released and should be available on Flathub soon. The new version features a redesigned main view, a new calorie view, a daemon to remind users to reach their step goal, and an updated stylesheet (thanks to libadwaita). Also, the icons have been updated to be finer and many translations have been added.
- Dialect 1.4.0 has been released and has also reached Flathub. Now it uses names in the languages of each region and has new keyboard shortcuts for many actions. Bugs have also been fixed. On the other hand, it has been ported to GTK4 and libadwaita.
- Blanket has also been ported to GTK4 and libadwaita.
- Junction, an application to choose applications or navigate between them, has launched its first version.
- Fractal has included a new device list and authentication dialog, a new room creation dialog, the handling of the session has been corrected, the closure of the session has been implemented and the display of errors has been improved.
