GNOME sees this week how Tube Converter changes its name, among other news from third-party apps

This week in GNOME

Not long ago, seeing or reading something about tube-converter I thought something like “why is it called that if what it does is download more than convert? Not the luckiest name." Apparently, the satellite dish of its developers is able to tune in with the thoughts, since a short time later they have announced a name change. Posted in the last entry of This Week in GNOME, have changed their name to Parabolic.

It's not that I love the name either, as it can lead to confusion and make us think that it's for watching television channels, but at least it goes hand in hand with the application icon. This is one of the new arrivals that have taken place in the week that was from June 23 to June 30 in the GNOME universe, but there is more. Everything from the last seven days is related to third-party projects, except for the first point where we are told about more news in libadwaita.

  • The back buttons AdwNavigationView now support a context menu that allows you to open multiple pages at once. This works with nested navigation views and even with structures like AdwNavigationSplitView containing navigation views both in the content and in the sidebar. Also, the back button tooltips are now more reliable: they previously did not work in this situation and required the app to manually sync the sidebar page title with the page visible in its navigation view. Now it is automatic as in other cases.
